ITINERARY


  • Morning: Arrive in Kathmandu, meet program coordinators, and transfer to your guesthouse.

  • Afternoon: Orientation session on the program's goals, itinerary, and learning objectives.


    Evening: Welcome dinner and introduction to Newari culture, including its historical significance and traditional customs.

Morning: Guided tour of Kathmandu’s ancient Newari neighborhoods, focusing on architecture, woodwork, and traditional building techniques. Afternoon: Workshop on traditional Newari art and crafts, including pottery, stone carving, and thangka painting. Evening: Discussion on the role of architecture and art in Newari society.
Morning: Travel to Bhaktapur, a well-preserved Newari city, for a hands-on workshop in local crafts. Students will have the chance to create their own pottery or wooden carvings. Afternoon: Visit Bhaktapur’s famous Durbar Square and ancient courtyards to see architectural masterpieces. Evening: Group discussion on the importance of preserving crafts and traditional skills in a modernizing world.
Morning: Travel to a traditional Newari village, where students will stay with host families to experience communal living firsthand. Afternoon: Introduction to the Newari communal structure, including the roles of family units, community councils, and social traditions. Evening: Participate in a communal dinner with locals and learn about Newari family dynamics and intergenerational customs.
Morning: Attend a cultural workshop on Newari festivals, customs, and religious practices. Afternoon: Visit a local temple or shrine to observe a traditional ritual.
